Sustainable Agriculture, Entrepreneurship & Community Engagement

Watch Me Grow Ohio is a non-profit organization that provides free youth and community programming in sustainable agriculture and community engagement.

Founded in 2018, Watch Me Grow Ohio has supported over 200 local youth, including many at-risk children from underserved areas across Southern Ohio.

With strong local partnerships and community support, unique programs are designed to encourage academic growth, physical and emotional health and wellness, and community involvement.

Agriculture

Our agriculture programs provide youth and community participants with hands-on experience in sustainable gardening methods and livestock management. Youth participants will plant, grow, and harvest produce at our off-site Market Garden to sell at the Main Street Portsmouth Farmer’s Market.

Additionally, produce grown at our community Fellowship Garden will be provided to families in need throughout Scioto County as part of our ‘Healthy Communities’ Initiative.

Programs Include:

  • Horticulture & Natural Sciences

  • Food Preservation: Canning, Pickling & Salsa Making

  • Farm to Table Recipes

  • Farmer’s Market

  • Forage & Forest: Edible Plant Hikes

Entrepreneurship

Led by skilled banking professionals and community partners at WesBanco Bank, Inc. our entrepreneurship programs provide participants with in-depth financial education and assistance in small business development.

Additionally, youth and community participants receive financial literacy tools and resources designed by the American Bankers Association. Training includes:

Community Engagement

We care about our community and we’re working hard to design programs and projects that empower local residents. With strong local partnerships and support, we can create innovative and inspiring solutions to overcome social inequity in our communities.
